Biography
Milton Camilo da Silva Junior was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1970, as the youngest of four siblings.
He spent his childhood in nature and on the streets of Rio de Janeiro.
With the age of fourteen, he began a training as a nurse, specializing in oncology and dialysis, where he graduated in 1989.
He begins to learn dance at the Academia Tereza Petsold, and then passes the entrance examination for the Maria Oleneva Ballet School in Rio de Janeiro, where he completes his training in classical ballet.
Four years later he starts studying contemporary dance at the University Angel Vianna.
From 1992 to 1997 he then works as a freelance dancer and choreographer in Rio de Janeiro.
Here he directs, among other things, projects at the Municipal University of Rio de Janeiro in cooperation with the departments of literature and dance.
In 1998 he goes to Germany to learn German expressive dance and to work as a dancer.
From 1998 to 2008 projects follow as a dancer and dramaturge with the Mark Sieczkarek Company.
In 2003 Milton begins to work with painting, which is followed by solo and group exhibitions.
In 2007 he moves to Wuppertal and opens the studio OLGA - Raum für Kunst.
Parallel to OLGA, Milton Camilo founds the Companie Le Chemin in 2011 and choreographs performances and dance projects in collaboration with artists of various genres.
In 2008 Milton Camilo becomes a member of the Wuppertal Workshop, a ten-year collaboration follows.
Since 2007 he has been working as a lecturer for art and dance with children and young people for various schools and projects in the cities of Wuppertal, Remscheid and Solingen.
From 2008 - 2009 he completes a training in expressive semiology with Arno Stern at the Kunstquartier Wien and in 2011 a further training in "Aesthetic Education for Art Educators at Youth Art Schools and All-day Schools" at the Academy of Cultural Education in Remscheid.
Milton Camilo also works with refugees in cooperation with the Bildungswerk of the archdiocese of Cologne e.V. and the "Landesvereinigung Kulturelle Jugendarbeit NRW e.V."
In 2020, he finds the art factory Wernerstraße, a space that combines painting and dance in one place.
